EPL: Solskjaer tells Ten Hag how Man United can defeat Liverpool

EPL Solskjaer tells Ten Hag how Man United can defeat Liverpool

Former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær has urged manager Erik ten Hag to make the most of the pace of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnach and Rasmus Hojlund in their upcoming clash against Liverpool.

The Norwegian believed Liverpool’s midfield could move, allowing United’s quick attackers to exploit the space and launch a devastating counter-attack.

Before the match, Solskjær acknowledged the intense style of play Liverpool is known for but also highlighted their vulnerability to losing possession due to the absence of Roberto Firmino, the club’s former false nine.

With Bruno Fernandes expected to spend more time on the ball, Solskjær is confident United can repeat their previous success against their rivals by playing an attacking style of football.

“With Jurgen, you know what will happen, but it’s very difficult to play against him,” Solskjær told The Athletic.

“But with Firmino out, the front three can retire if they lose the ball because there is no false nine.

The Liverpool midfielder then gives up the ball, allowing you to exploit Rashford, Garnach, or Hojlund’s quickness. [Bruno] Fernandes wants more time on the ball and Liverpool’s defence must support him.
