A key innovation of Ethereum is: the smart contractself-executing contracts where the terms are written directly into code. These contracts automatically trigger actions, such as payments, without the need for intermediaries like banks or lawyers. Ethereum also powers the rise of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), digital assets that represent ownership of unique items like artwork or music. Currently, Ethereum is undergoing an upgrade to Ethereum 2.0, which will improve scalability, security, and energy efficiency by transitioning to a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism.

Litecoin

Litecoin is a shared digital money made in 2011 by Charlie Lee, a previous Google engineer. It was designed as a "lighter" version of Bitcoin, aiming to improve upon Bitcoin’s limitations by offering faster transaction times and lower fees. Often referred to as the "silver to Bitcoin’s gold," Litecoin uses a similar blockchain structure but processes blocks every 2.5 minutes compared to Bitcoin's 10 minutes, allowing for quicker transaction confirmations.


Litecoin operates on a decentralized, open-source network, meaning it’s not controlled by any central authority. Its native cryptocurrency, LTC, can be used for payments, trading, and as a store of value. Litecoin's quicker block generation and lower fees make it an attractive option for everyday transactions and microtransactions.


With a strong reputation for stability and a dedicated user base, Litecoin remains one of the top cryptocurrencies, particularly valued for its speed and cost-effectiveness compared to Bitcoin.
